1. China’s top badminton player Chen Long was awarded the Male Player of the Year award and Spain's Carolina Marin was awarded Female Player of the Year award by World Badminton Federation (BWF).

2. Legendary American swimmer Michael Phelps won the gold medal of the 200-meter butterfly event at the U.S. Winter National Swimming Championships at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way. This is Phelps's third gold medal in the championship.

3. International ratings agency Fitch Ratings announced that India’s investment rating would remain at ‘BBB-’ -- the lowest investment grade -- with a stable outlook. Fitch forecast that India’s GDP growth will accelerate to 7.5% in the current fiscal year, which will increase to 8% in 2016-17 supported by the government’s investments and reform measures.

अंतरराष्ट्रीय रेटिंग एजेंसी फिच ने ‘स्थिर’आउटलुक से साथ भारत की ‘बीबीबी-’--निम्नतम निवेश ग्रेड--रेटिंग को बरकरार रखा है। फिच का अनुमान है कि जीडीपी विकास दर इस साल 7.5% और 2016-17 में 8% रहेगी। सुधारवादी कदमों और सरकारी निवेश से इसमें तेजी आएगी।

4. Tata Trust entered into 5-year partnership agreement with Khan Academy, a free online education initiative for making localised content accessible to students across the country. Khan Academy is one of the world’s largest free online education initiatives and has been established by Silicon Valley-based education entrepreneur Salman Khan.

5. India won a historic Test series against South Africa as the hosts romped home with a whopping 337 runs victory in the fourth and final Test match at Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla stadium. With this win India won the 4-test match series by 3-0 following wins at Mohali and Nagpur. R. Ashwin was adjudged ‘Player of the Series’ for this historic series win.

भारत ने दक्षिण अफ्रीका को दिल्ली के फिरोजशाह कोटला स्टेडियम में आयोजित 4-टेस्ट मैचों की श्रृंखला के चौथे तथा अंतिम टेस्ट मैच में 337 रनों से पराजित करके 3-0 के बड़े अंतर से हराकर टेस्ट श्रृंखला जीतकर इतिहास रच दिया। आर. आश्विन को इस श्रृंखला का सर्वश्रेष्ठ खिलाड़ी घोषित किया गया।

6. Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu flagged off the first Goa to Mumbai double-decker Shatabdi train through video conference from Panaji, Goa. The fully air-conditioned double-decker train is the first-of-its-kind in India and it will promote tourism.

रेल मंत्री सुरेश प्रभु ने प्रथम गोवा-मुंबई डबल डेकर शताब्दी रेलगाड़ी को पणजी, गोवा से वीडियो कान्फ्रेंसिंग के जरिए झंडी दिखाकर रवाना किया। पूरी तरह से वातानुकूलित डबल डेकर ट्रेन देश में अपनी तरह की पहली रेलगाड़ी है और इससे पर्यटन को बढ़ावा मिलेगा।

7. General Motors (GM) India appointed Kaher Kazem as the President and Managing Director of the company with effect from 1 January 2016. Kazem will succeed Arvind Saxena. Kazem is an Australian executive who became GM India's Chief Operating Officer (COO) in August 2015.

The award was organized by Forbes Middle East. The winners are judged on criteria's of Global strength, experience in region, Geographical reach, Employment impact & Position in the Middle East region.

9. The 8th edition of the Indo-Russian joint naval exercise INDRA NAVY-15 commenced in the Bay of Bengal, off the coast of Andhra Pradesh. INDRA is the name given to the bi-annual naval exercise held between India and Russia. The primary aim of this exercise is to increase interoperability between the two navies and develop common understanding of procedures for maritime security operations.

भारत और रूस की नौसेनाओं के संयुक्त अभ्यास, आईएनडीआरए नेवी-15, का 8वाँ संस्करण आन्ध्र प्रदेश के तट से लगी बंगाल की खाड़ी में शुरू हो गया। आईएनडीआरए, भारत और रूस की नौसेनाओं के संयुक्त नौसेना अभ्यास को दिया गया नाम है जिसका आयोजन हर दो साल के अंतराल पर किया जाता है। इस अभ्‍यास का प्राथमिक लक्ष्‍य दोनों नौसेनाओं के बीच पारस्‍परिकता बढ़ाना और सामुद्रिक सुरक्षा से जुड़े प्रचालनों के बारे में समान समझ विकसित करना है।
