Fight of the century: Floyd Mayweather beats Manny Pacquiao in unanimous decision

Floyd Mayweather Jr. preserved his unbeaten record as a professional with a unanimous decision victory over Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines in their welterweight megabout at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday.
The 38-year-old American withstood an aggressive start by the Filipino and relied on his renowned defence and counter-punching to dominate the 12 rounds as he improved his career record to 48-0.
Manny Pacquiao was unable to land a knockout punch on Floyd Mayweather during the 12th and final round of their megafight.
Mayweather easily kept Pacquiao at bay in the round with the Filipino southpaw apparantly behind on points when the final bell sounded.

But is it a sound move by India considering the fact that India has for decades consistently opposed involvement of non-regional powers and intervention of ‘third parties’ in its bilateral dispute with Pakistan?
An even larger question is this: hasn't the Modi government with this move reversed India’s Pakistan policy as far as the issue of third parties’ involvement in India-Pakistan dispute is concerned?


BJP shields Prime Minister Narendra Modi from surprise attack by party ex-minister
New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday came out strongly in defence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi after Arun Shourie's attack on his government and said he was a "fair weather friend" and could be having a "grouse" over not getting positions. 
Indian Power Minister Piyush Goyal was strong in his criticism of Shourie saying "If some individuals probably have some grouse, they don't get some positions, and want to make issues out of non-issues, I think they are best to left to judge whether they are saying the right thing.



Duronto coaches derailed near Goa
MANGALURU: Ten rear coaches of Train no. 12223 LTT-Ernakulam Duronto Express derailed at 6.24am South of Madgaon, near Balli station. No casualties or injuries have been reported, said Konkan Railway spokesperson.



Mufti to visit Gujarat to promote tourism
After trying to woo Bollywood to promote tourism in the state, Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed will visit Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home state, Gujarat, on Sunday to promote tourism. In an official press statement, Sayeed is likely to visit tour operators of Gujarat during his one-day visit.



Strikes on Syria Tied to Deaths of 52 Civilians
BEIRUT, Lebanon — Airstrikes by the American-led coalition against Islamic State militants have killed several dozen people in northern Syria, with the death toll from Friday’s attacks rising to more than 52 civilians on Saturday, according to a Syrian monitoring group and local activists.



Nepal Earthquake: Facebook raises over $10 million
Over seven million people in Nepal used Facebook to reach out to over 150 million friends and family members across the globe after last week’s devastating earthquake, a company official said in a statement on Friday. It also said that the social networking site raised over $10 million (Rs 1.2 billion) in just two days for the victims.



Nepal Earthquake: Doctors offer to do complex surgeries in India; IMA ready to bare all expenses
The authorities in Nepal, taking care of the rehabilitation programme in the country, says that if they are unable to manage complex surgery of the inured in the country, they will refer these patients to India. In last five days, more than 1000 surgeries performed. However, the authorities say that the main challenge will be to provide the treatment to the people who staying in peripheral areas.




Mumbai: Senior Inspector Vilas Joshi succumbs to injuries after being shot by ASI
Senior Inspector Vilas Joshi who has shot by assistant sub-inspector Dilip Shirke succumbed to injuries on Sunday. ASI Dilip Shirke, attached to the Vakola Police Station in Mumbai on Saturday, had opened fire on his senior police inspector before killing himself with his service weapon. ASI Dilip Shirke reportedly had an argument with senior inspector Vilas Joshi shortly before the incident at 8.42 pm. The incident took place inside the station premises.
