#* Beau Biden, Son of Vice President Joe Biden, Dies at 46
Beau Biden, the elder son of Vice President Joe Biden and the former attorney general of Delaware, died Saturday after battling brain cancer. He was 46.Beau Biden was considered a rising star in the Democratic Party and was expected to run for governor next year in Delaware. But a series of health issues had clouded his political future as the Biden family privately dealt with his prognosis.Beau Biden, an Army officer and father of two, lived a life that was “was defined by service to others,” his father said in a statement.Joe Biden announced his son’s death Saturday evening, saying that Beau Biden fought brain cancer “with the same integrity, courage and strength he demonstrated every day of his life.”

NEW DELHI:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today address the nation in the eight edition of his radio programme "Mann ki Baat" in which he shares his thoughts with the people."Tomorrow 11 AM I will share 'Mann Ki Baat.' Actress Anushka Sharma, who worked with Ranveer Singh in the 2010 film ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’, says he is now a calmer and less anxious person as compared to his earlier days.“When we worked together for ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’, Ranveer used to be very anxious and hyper on set. He used to do weird things, but now he is calmer, less anxious. He’s a better actor now,” Anushka said during a chat show shot for mobile audiences to promote the forthcoming film ‘Dil Dhadakne Do‘.
Apart from Ranveer and Anushka, the Zoya Akhtar directorial features Farhan Akhtar, Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah and Priyanka Chopra.The chat show, “Cruising With Dil Dhadakne Do”, has been shot exclusively for hotstar. #* Strong earthquake measuring 7.8 jolts Japan: Officials say there's no tsunami risk
Tokyo: A 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck off the Japanese coast on Saturday, geologists said, shaking buildings in Tokyo and setting off car alarms.Despite the huge power of the quake, there was no risk of a tsunami, The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre reported.Residential buildings swayed for around a minute as the quake built in intensity at around 8.30pm (1130 GMT), an AFP correspondent reported.Representational image. It was centred on a remote spot in the Pacific Ocean around 870 kilometres south of Tokyo, the US Geological Survey said. Yoshiyuki Sasamoto, who runs a traditional guest house on Chichijima, one of the closest inhabited places to the epicentre, told NHK the shaking had been violent.
"Initially a weaker quake hit and it stopped. Then the big one came. It was so strong that I couldn't stand still and couldn't walk," he said.

#* BJP hasn't given up stand on repeal of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, says Jitendra Singh
Maintaining that BJP stood for abrogation of Article 370 in line with Jana Sangh founder Shyama Prasad Mookerjee's views, Union minister Jitendra Singh has said that contentious issues in Jammu and Kashmir have been put on the back-burner keeping in mind the "coalition dharma" with its ally PDP.In an interview to PTI on matters pertaining to the state, Singh spoke on a host of issues, but preferred to downplay controversial matters, including withdrawal of Article 370, which grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

#* Cabinet nod for land ordinance's re-promulgation, Rahul accuses Modi of 'land grab' yet again
New Delhi:The union cabinet on Saturday gave its approval to the re-promulgation of the land acquisition ordinance, triggering strong criticism from opposition parties including the Congress whose leader Rahul Gandhi accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of being "in an amazing hurry to grab land from the poor farmers at any cost".The move was also criticised by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.The cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, gave its approval to amend the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Amendment) Ordinance, 2015. This will be the third time it will be promulgated.The ordinance was first promulgated in December last year to amend the act passed during the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government in 2013. An official release said that changes in the 2013 Act "will facilitate farmers to get better compensation and rehabilitation and resettlement benefits" in lieu of land compulsorily acquired by the government.

#* Patna CM Nitish skips Nishad rally, avoids Lalu
Amid prevailing suspense over merger and seat-sharing between RJD and JD(U), chief minister Nitish Kumar skipped another occasion to share the dais with RJD chief Lalu Prasad at the fishermen's rally on Saturday. It instantly triggered speculation about the growing hiatus between the two leaders.Both the leaders were scheduled to be present at the Nishad (fishermen) rally along with JD(U) president Sharad Yadav to project unity among the Janata Parivar.While Lalu and Sharad participated in the rally, Nitish Kumar was conspicuous by his absence.Though Kumar attended an official function to launch the construction of Ambedkar residential school buildings and inaugurated godowns for grain storage, he announced cancellation of his participation in the Nishad rally, which he was scheduled to inaugurate.When asked about his skipping the rally, in which he was to share dais with the RJD chief, Kumar said it was because of his recent eye operation."I will not be able to make it to the programme due to laser surgery of my eye. I had informed the organisers about it beforehand," he said.However, state animal husbandry minister Baidyanath Sahni, who played an important role in organizing the Nishad rally at Gandhi Maidan, said no politics should be read into it.
